Problems with remote computing
Published on February 2, 2007 By Sidetone In Bug Reports
I use pcAnywhere to login to my computer from work. But if I forget to turn off CursorXP and WindowBlinds. The mouse looks like a big square block, and my toolbars and backgrounds do not show up. This I am sure is a color limitation in pcanywhere. But I am curious if someone might have a fix for this problem other than turning everything off before I leave for work. Help me out guys one of you Guru's must know something. I would love to show off the power of Desktop to my customers.

pcA reduces the color depth by default to save bandwidth & increase speed, which will affect the appearance of the remote's desktop, though you can override that in pcA's preferences (at the expense of speed). CXP uses alpha-transparency which pcA doesn't handle well. I've found it quite simple to just use the CTRL-SHIFT-C toggle to disable CXP on the remote at the end of the day & re-enable it with the same toggle next day, though I admit that inevitably the time I need to connect is when I've forgotten to toggle CXP off.
